This Kit includes a hardware converter plus the firmware for all SoftPLC models where you desire to use one of the USB ports to communicate to serial RS-485 devices.

This small USB to RS485 converter in industrial in both circuitry and physical strength. The main circuitry consists of a FT232RL processor ensuring reliable data conversion, plus the converter uses the SP485 serial driver with additional fail-safe bias resistors, 60VDC fault protection, 15KV Air Discharge protection, 4KV Contact Discharge protection with a true industrial grade operating temperature of -40°C to 85°C.  A ferrite bead in front of the USB connector prevents noise from entering the converter via the USB port, effectively reducing noise.

The RS485 interface is a 3-screw terminal header with both a male and a female connector so it is easy to connect single wires to the header and disconnect/re-connect them. There is

5VDC power on the serial side for powering serial devices, protected against short circuits and has current limit protection.  The converter is powered from the USB port so no external power supply is required. LED lights indicate when the converter has power and when it is sending or receiving data.
